where websites come to life
My Design Playground
Client Project: Mighty Fraser Barber Company
A website built for a budding barber shop, showcasing clean design and functional features.
This project is a web design that I crafted for a friend, Andy, who recently opened a barber shop. Andy allowed me the honour of designing him his website even though he initially wasn’t sure that he wanted one— so that I could use it as an example in my portfolio and for marks towards my Graphic Design course.
It was a collaborative effort, combining my design skills, with Andy’s passion for barbering.
By working together, we were able to create a website that reflects the unique character of Mighty Fraser Barber Company.
Within 24 hours, his website has already started bringing clientele into his shop.
I started with leading the client through a comprehensive domain name exploration. I completed competitive analysis, brand audits, identified potential conflicts and proposed solutions to maintain brand consistency.
I then secured the domain name through Squarespace.
I chose Squarespace to host the site, so that the client would not need to worry about continual site maintenance afterwards. I appreciate the security offered through this web builder, as well as the comprehensive tools they provide.
With this project being used towards a school assignment and being under time constraints — my initial concept was to just use an existing Squarespace template and alter it to fit the MFBC brand.
The template did not match the client’s unique and authentic character, nor did it match my mission for bringing personalized service to every client.
I chose to instead create a site that was configured to have none of the presets left unchanged and the result being completely original.
One of the primary challenges was to create a website that was both visually appealing and easy to navigate, even for users who may not be tech-savvy, across all platforms. To address this, I employed a minimalist design approach focusing on clear typography and intuitive user interface elements— while not losing the special branding aspects.
Throughout this design process, I actively sought feedback from the client to ensure the website aligned with his vision. This collaborative approach allowed me to make necessary adjustments and refine the design to meet his specific needs.
